Blog post from the day.

June 17

Now we are safely on to the freeway. It is 20 o’clock right now. It’s about 8 o’clock. I have a few hours to get to I guess. Or cottage or something anyways today has been quite another adventure lots of ups and downs. This morning woke up. The bed was very comfortable. I stayed at a hostel last night I was. Sleeping in my car last night because I didn’t book a hotel cause I was debating on driving that night but I ended up drinking at a bar and talking with Robert and Jack. Lots about politics. We did a lot of things we played dominoes we played Jim Remy wanted to play different games or whatever and then I took Jägerbomb shots or whatever and we started talking about politics. I’m not the one who brought it up they asked me back and I said. Me if I tell you what I actually think.

But it turned out to be a great conversation they were both anti-Trump. You know they kind of just brought a lot of corruption in Israel and Iran and yes, some of his cryptocurrency scams and you know you know maybe there’s truth that anyways I was just like with him in office, he preserved free speech and he values freedom of speech, which I think is essential for the success of the United States at the end each other towards the end fight with a guy about Elon Musk if he was just, he just wouldn’t even listen to me he was putting his fingers in his ear

I went back and I started sleeping in my car and it’s a little Peugeot so it was very uncomfortable and also I needed to take a shower so I said screw. It ended up getting a hostile. I don’t even know if I talk to you about the whole manual car fiasco that happened yesterday

So long story short I booked I rented a car from Avis in downtown Edinburgh. It was very hard to get to cause I had to go. It was at the -2 floor of this parking garage and you needed a pass to get in the parking garage so I had to go an elevator and go to this kiosk in the middle of the parking garage. They had some nice cars. I got them like 10 minutes till they closed Anyway they had a car for me. It’s really cool sporty little Peugeot GT. I specifically requested a manual because you know I could drive a manual pick up truck to manual even though that the clutch is completely gone red dirt bikes, and I drove the manual green Mercury Cougar away from Pittsburgh back to Arizona, but anyway, so I get this thing. This thing is like 2000 miles on it.
It got fancy dashboard cluster. It looks like a sports car. It’s really fun or whatever I turned it on and it slowly kind of putter out of the parking garage immediately as a hill and I’m kind of revving this thing and all of a sudden it’s like not going anywhere to start smoking this thing is brand new.
So I can sit there I don’t know what to do and end up finally floating it back down having a cool off and then I slowly started up again and drive it back to inside a neighborhood where I park it so I just gotta leave it there until the next day and then the next day happens

To wake up and at first glance, I checked the left side correct passenger side of the windshield. I don’t see a ticket where I parked at hostel it was a parking zone, but I guess they give tickets so then I check the driver side and I did in fact get a ticket so that sucks so I finally find a café where I can get Wi-Fi and actually plug something in and do some work on my computer and figure out the rest of the trip . I roll up and I park it over there and go to this café in this café is absolutely slammed. There’s so many people and for good reason their coffee wasn’t very good but their breakfast was incredible. I had to figure out a bunch of stuff. I thought my phone. I thought my Verizon wasn’t working, but you have to type in the plus one +44 for the number Ended up calling and figuring out where to drop this car off Birmingham Airport so anyways, so while I figure all that out I end up getting another parking ticket where I was parked so now I’m two parking tickets which sucks by plowing ahead so I finally booked a hotel in. It’s in surely England or something like that which is about four hours away. It’s kind of by Wales. It’s kind of just north of Liverpool like a single kind of cottage in this farm of cottage anyway so I chose that that’s good now I have to get out of like the city center because as you all know your cars are Very difficult to drive is stopping traffic and there was no real place like parking lot or whatever to, so I’m just kind of wing it at this point I overheated it once overheated the clutch so I’m driving to the city and I’m also getting used to not only driving a new manual car. Also driving with a steering wheel on the right side of the car and then also driving on the left side of the road so I’m just trying to follow the car in front of me as fast as possible so I’m driving and the clutch just continues to overheat. I have to stop and I have to stop and I have to stop and finally I get on the road. I get on the road go down And then it overheats and then it won’t fall down so I parked at this far right in the middle of nowhere and continue to overheat so I break it into different blocks. I wait a half an hour. I wait an hour.

It finally after one farm where I was parked on the road along the entrance that farm had to lock up so he kicked me out so I drove across to the other farm where there was like kind of dog reading far like I asked to park there so after I wait two hours, the clutch finally cool down and I was able to drive away with it But here’s the thing I had to set so I finally change the gauge cluster to Show RPMs so that helped and then when I figured out as I was driving in third when I thought was first year, so that was the issue and I was concerned that I damaged the clutch and the driveshaft and the flywheel, but I read that a good check to see if you damaged it if you’re going to third or fourth gear While driving when you accelerate, you see that the speed accelerates proportional to your RPMs and it checks out, so I really thought I broke this car, but it looks like that I didn’t see that may be very happy

So now I’m getting cocky again and I see that I see this is church instantly jumps out of me and I said I need to church so I turned off this church and it’s literally just enough space for this little car. There’s a iron gate on the other side OK

As I try to sneak past this iron gate through on the left side where I see some of the thin metal fencing was depressed into the mud I try to go past and my coat catches on a Ford bush. Once I remove that phone, I tried to go through and again and then the third time I try to go I hear a voice that says hey what are you up to?

I turn to the side and there’s this woman of about 65 in gardening gloves holding a pitchfork for prom pitchfork with fork beds 90° facing towards me she has a pink fleece on jeans so I wanna see the church. She’s very nice and sweet so we got to talking and Talked about Edinburgh in Scotland and was kind of current events in Scotland and there’s immigration. She shared some thoughts about the church and how this entire village was founded basically by the guy named. his Lamington, I guess he came from money. He was with the real family and he liked this plot of land. He got kind of rundown. He got it from the guy named Bailey and he decided to employ people to build up the fidget and build up these cottages back in the 1800s and it built this church it’s holy Trinity Church. Oh yeah she said that this church was not wounded by the historical Society and it’s a level B church where the Scotland Edinburgh castle is a kind of historical site. This church is very valued and they renovating it because there’s like leaks and things like that but anyway, so there was three Lord Lamington in the original Leamington built out his filled out he moved the road away. so they could be quieter if you go to church there tennis courts, and there was a laundry station there where people in town actually send their laundry to. to the village of Leamington and it’s a whole community because I guess they have the freshest water there and she also talked about the tea and the tea the water very good the way she suggested me a few different whiskeys and gins, but yeah, all three of the Leamington are born there. They built a new crypt Leamington too built a crypt for limited two with his wife and his wife’s sister. They sealed that up all of the state glass was original and it was refurbished and she said it was very challenging to refurbish. Oh, there was a stone from Braveheart. There’s like a longest stone embedded in the church for Braveheart and also there was a cross the top piece of the church that she said his wives took from road and brought it back to the church anyways it was incredible experience out of that spot because the curve is extremely dangerous. Anyway that was a wonderful experience. Happy that I remembered how to drive a car the car broken these fields like driving through the countryside is beautiful. You’re so great. They’re so so beautiful.
